2009 Associated Press Awards
As EIV News continues to strive for journalism excellence, we would like to announce our 2009 Associated Press Awards. This year, EIV News was awarded four AP awards in several categories. The awards are as follows:
- Best Newscast for “EIV News Live @ 9:00“ Every week we put on a half-hour live newscast in an effort to simulate local news. Executive producers Kevin Cochran and Meaghan Keane worked with the entire cast and crew of our news department to make this possible.
- Best Investigative Piece for “Political Firefight” EIV News reporter Abbey Niezgoda captured the frustration of Boston firefighters during the mayoral election as they blamed Mayor Menino for engineering the collapse of the fire department.
- Best Hard News Feature for “Industry in Peril” EIV News reporter Katie Eastman traveled to Maine to hear the stories of fishermen angry over rules and regulations that are forcing them out of the ocean.
- Best Weather Coverage EIV’s in-studio weather correspondents Joe Hyer and Spencer Parente demonstrated excellent weather reporting and forecasting, with the help of various EIV News reporters in the field.
